Some are still built this way and in my opinion those are garbage. Many
umbrella strollers are built with a firm back and normal seat to support
baby. Chico makes a great one.

Subject: [blparent] umbrella strollers

I haven't looked at strollers for years, but when Gab was a baby, I read an
article that said that umbrella strollers were the absolute worse for our
child to ride in. because they are scooped, the baby's back is always
curved and this would lead to a curved back. They said also because the
baby was so limber at this young age, it was easy for their back to form
that way.
Like I said, this was many years ago and I'm not sure if umbrella strollers
are still soft canvas anymore. V
