They are recessed. Do you have the bottles with the plastic inserts?

I can feel them plain as day.

So, we make the bottles up ahead of time--that is, before we leave the
house. We fill up the water and parcel out the powder in the 2.7 ounce
bottles I pump into. When it is time to make a bottle I dump the
powder into the bottles.

This method is useful for sure. The not-so-easy, but I'm figuring out
anyway, thing is measuring a five ounce bottle or a seven ounce bottle
independently. The even numbered ounces are doable because there are
measuring cups.

And FYI, I have tried feeling a line inside the Dr. Brown bottles and
I got nada.
