Hi. Congratulations!!! Have you seen a lactation consultant yet? Also I used and still use a "My Breast friend nursing pillow which helped my little one get to the right height and position for feeding. I also used a nipple shield for 6 weeks which helped with the latching and letting go problem that we were initially having. He is almost 9 months old and is still nursing well and weighs almost 20 lbs. You will be able to do this! Hope the exhaustion and nursing issues go away soon!

Subject: [blparent] Our new baby

Hi all,

Little Ashlyn Eve was born last Thursday the 16th of June at 8:49 pm after an intense 4 hour labour. She weighed 9 pounds 2.5 ounces, and was 21 inches long. We’re all doing well now, Remus doesn’t know what to think, and Colyn adores his new little sister. We’re having some nursing difficulties so I’ve been nursing when I can and pumping and bottle feeding the rest. She seems to latch okay, and sucks a few times, and then lets go for whatever reason. She obviously knows what she’s supposed to do, but even when I express milk to start letdown we’ve only had a few successful feedings, and none where I haven’t had to bottle feed. I’m happy to pump and feed, but I’d like to get the nursing working well enough so I don’t have to pump all the time. Any help would be very much appreciated.
I’ll write more when I can,

Tammy
