I have been asked to circulate the following notice. If you're interested,
please contact the producer directly at the email address or phone number
which are at the end of the message. Feel free to pass this on to anyone
who might qualify. This could be an opportunity to get a positive view of
blind parents out to the public. Thanks!
Debbie

Dear David
We are looking for inspirational role-model parents to take part in our
ongoing documentary for the BBC about parenting teenagers. We would love to
find a family where one or both parents are blind and it would be fantastic
if you were able to circulate this info amongst any parents or contacts you
think might be interested.
The programme consists of sending two difficult British teenagers to stay
with a family oversees for a week. By living in a disciplined yet loving
environment, the hope is that these kids will have experiences that force
them to look at their own lives, and so make positive changes that could
last a lifetime.
We have previously filmed with a Police Chief in Oaklahoma, a Mormon family
in Utah, and a Pastor from Texas. In order to get a full picture of
different types of parenting techniques, and fairly represent all groups,
the BBC would like us to find families where one or both parents are blind.
We are looking for families who have at least one child aged 13-19, who are
proud of their strong parenting and family values and who would be willing
to accommodate two British teenagers for one week in April, May or June and
instil in them the values and morality they demand of their own children.
The British teens will be expected to attend school, complete homework and
help with household chores; they will not be guests in the house but new
members of the family.
We have visited many fabulous cities and cultures throughout the course of
making these hour long documentaries but what is most critical to the
success of the programme are the contributions from the 'host' families who
are prepared to take on this experience. Of course we look for diverse and
interesting characters but what is of paramount importance is that they are
essentially a very loving family with strict boundaries, moral values, work
ethics etc. By learning from the example of another family unit, our
teenagers have been able to apply some of what they learn back at home in
the UK and improve relations with their own family.
I have attached a flyer that might help, perhaps it could be adapted to
make
a radio announcement?
If you have any further queries or would like to talk in person about any
specific details please get in touch
Many thanks in advance for your help
