[blparent] Bells; Yea or Ney?

I think it depends a lot on your child as well. Austin was a runner. He
wanted to be into everything and he moved quickly. He was always on the go,
so the bells really gave me piece of mind. Maybe we won't use them as often
with Oriana, although I know we'll start out by using them, because she is,
at least now, more cautious and content to stay still than Austin ever was.

I think it's your own personal choice. As I have a son who is just turning
10 months and we have been going through this exact same thing. I have
never used bells, not on my older kids and so far not with him either. I
can tell by the sounds around my house what he is into ... banging of the
empty food bowls for the dogs, the different sounds his toys make, the
sounds of silence when he's probably into something he shouldn't be. I too
have taught my children early that when we are in public places they better
either have hold of my hand or answer when I call them. But it really is a
personal choice, if you feel more comfortable with the bells, go for it.

Hello Blind Parents,

This list is great! I love being able to voice any concern I have regarding
parenthood as a blind person and actually get quality feedback.

Harrison is crawling as of this week and I've asked many folks about bells.
I'm not sure I need them but I want to hear it from the pros. To bell or not
to bell, that is the question.
