I'm plenty aware this is part of my reason to move. The transportation here
is horrible!

Tiana, I am fascinated that your paratransit provider would give you a
subscription for your son. Transportation is such an issue espescially for
younger kids. When my oldest started preschool, I got involved in scool
activities so could try to work out transportation. It's hard enough to get
to know people when you're blind but when you work full-time as well, it's
more complicated. I paid a neighbor to take my oldest and then the problem
was getting him to daycare mid-day as that was how preschool was scheduled. 
It is definitely a worry; best to you young moms or I should say moms with
young kids! I met a lot of people through the volunteer activities I did at
the school and then there was sports. So I offered to help the coach with
phone calls and thus met some of the parents. Basketball was harder as
traveled more. It was not always easy but worked out as I knew parents from
the school.
