That's great christmas will be here before I know it. Oh what fun it would be to have a little one around again.

Well, I'm not sure what my own ethics are about outright lying, because I
generally don't believe in it of course, but sometimes a lie won't do any
harm, and sometimes it can spare someone unnecessary pain or stress.
Sometimes a lie can cover up a surprise. But then, a child doesn't know the
difference between harmless lies and harmful ones, and I suppose the habit
of fibbing should be delayed as long as possible. Everybody lies a little
now and then, like saying a dinner was okay even if it was awful, so as not
to hurt the cook's feelings. But what I did is tell Sarah that we bought
the bus for her, but it was a Christmas gift so she would have to wait. I
said Christmas would be a special time for presents. She was upset at
first, but we made a bus out of a cardboard box, and the moment passed. It
will be interesting to see if she remembers, or if it comes up again between
now and Christmas. I was surprised she recalled the picture on the box from
the recycle bin this morning. Oh, and I made sure to rearrange the closet
so that the bus and the other presents are much more well hidden. Lesson
learned.
