As I remember, I'm pretty sure it was my family.  But the cane does glow.  I 
had enough vision at the time to see it in the picture of me in that blue 
dress with a neon white streak down the front.

Was it the photographer or your sister? I ask because photographers do weird 
s*** sometimes. And I'd like to find out what their rationale is.
We had our pictures taken for a church directory. I remember it because I 
was exausted, had a crappy day, it was raining, and I just wanted to get our 
pictures taken and go on home. I was trying to get my daughter situated (she 
was like two at the time), the photographer didn't seem to realize that 
posing a toddler who is cranky and hungry is a nonstarter, and right as he 
was about to take the picture, he took my cane so it wouldn't be in the 
picture.
By that point, I didn't care, I was more like "Let's get this done"
And the photographer didn't know me from a hole in the wall.
So now I'm curious.
Will ask some photographers about this.

Oh, I did have some of that problem too.  I remember the fit that was thrown
at my sister's wedding because the cane glos in pictures and they didn't
want it there.  I said if I had to walk down the aisle by myself, I was
going to have a cane.  Period.
Now if I have pictures taken and I have my cane, I still tend to hide it
behind me.
