Hello Mommas (and poppas can share ideas too),
We, as in the agency I work for, have the unique opportunity to
possibly create and host a blind mom's retreat at our Enchanted Hills
camp in Napa. Since I am a new mom I've been tasked with creating the
look and feel of this retreat. So, I need your help. The grant we are
applying for gives money to help support and fund the education and
development of women and girls. To appeal to their very generous
hearts, we need to make this retreat obviously educational. I knhow,
and we all know, that networking and simply talking to each other is
rather educational in and of itself. But, we cannot have an entire
weekend of sharing ideas like that. There will be some of that, of
course, however, we need more structure. That is where all of you come
in.
What would you find educational and useful to learn at such a cool
retreat? What were some of the things you would have liked to know
about when you were pregnant or a new mom? What kinds of challenges
did you deal with in terms of doctor office visits, nursing, feeding,
your own health care, researching baby products, etc, etc.
One thing I'd like to have during the retreat is a lactation
consultant come up and talk about nursing. The new moms I know in this
area all expressed some concerns about nursing. All new moms do, but
sometimes, the lactation consulting isn't helpful to us unless we get
some hands-on help.
Okay, what else?
Feel free to respond to my email off list. Or, if you would prefer to
talk please call me by Sept. 19. My cell is: 510-289-2577. I need your
thoughts by Sept. 19 because that's when we brainstorm here at work.
Many, many, many thanks ladies,
Lisamaria
