Rebecca, it puts the regular seat belt at a level that safe for children or
shorter adults so the belt doesn't hit them in dangerous areas during a
crash.  Like Terri said as well, it also makes the belt more comfortable
when in use since it's at a good level for the person using it.

This whole discussion is interesting. I'd always just accepted the risk of
riding in the front, but now I'm wondering if that was flawed.

Terri, do you use a seat belt adaptor?  If not, this would be a good way to
make things safer for you in a way that wouldn't be imberrusing because no
one would probably even notice there was anything different about your seat
belt.

I am one inch under the height for a booster at four feet eight inches tall,
but I make the weight requirement. When I ride in the front I make sure I
ride a little farther back and hope we do not have an accident where the air
bag deploys.
