[blparent] children drowning in shallow water

Yes, half the time my husband and I take turns doing the exact same thing.
This way we can both get our adult interaction time and fun interpersonal
time with our son. It's a win-win. The other half of the time we will both
play with him together. I bet for your daughter those are happy memories
she'll never forget because mom was right along with her having fun. I love
how our kids give us a second chance to be kids again.

I do think sometimes being with sighted people can give us a false sense of
security. I was at the sixth birthday party of my cousin's daughter last
summer, and it was at a water park. I was sitting in a chair at the side of
the pool, but I got tired of asking people if they could see Sarah and
having them say no, not right off the bat, there's so many kids, and then
having my heart in my throat till they located her. So I put on my suit and
got in the water, staying right with her. I was exhausted by the end of the
day, but we had a great time. Some of the parents asked why I got in, and I
just said I felt safer knowing right where Sarah was.
