The regular life vests restrict the child from learning learning the actual
motion for swimming, and ride up above their heads when they don't have the
strap between their legs.

I hated water wings as a kid because those suckers hurt so bad going on and
coming off.  Right now we have a floating device for Dawson that he sits in
and we move around the pool for him.  Later we're probably going to get one
of those body swim suits with the built in life vest.

I'm not so sure about life jackets.  Well I guess life jackets are okay, but

As blind parents, I feel it is crucial for us to stay close to our kids in
and around the water.  The posts of the past few days show all too
chillingly how quickly a tragic accident can occur.  It's a good idea to
have kids wear life jackets around the water, too.
