[blparent] Vacation question

I fly quite a bit and overall my experience with TSA staff has been positive
now that their training is getting better and more extensive in most cities.
If a TSA member is doing something wrong like just grabbing my arm instead
of offering sighted guide I will take a second to kindly educate them about
the proper method. Most TSA's have been relieved and appreciative when I've
done this with the rare exception of the bozo who doesn't really care one
way or the other. In these cases I've made a point to calmly and quietly
inform a supervisor so that person could be properly trained or dealt with.
There is a lot a TSA person has to look at with me since I have both a guide
dog to check as well as a toddler in a carrier so I've really been impressed
over-all with their handling.
When it comes to great vacation spots, I've been very impressed with Disney
World the most. I recommend staying on the property since there are busses
that take you from their hotels to any of the parks. It's a huge place but
everyone is very helpful. Now living in San Diego we are exploring the area
and falling in love with all the wonderful things to do here. It's
exhilarating to live some ware that people love to vacation because all the
fun is right in our backyard. We went to the zoo this past weekend and I
was extremely impressed with how accommodating, well trained and friendly
the employees were. We purchased a year membership because this is a place
we will want to visit frequently and they had a locked kennel right up front
for my guide with shade and water. I'm sure our experience at Sea World
will be the same.
I haven't yet been on a cruise but from what I here there are lots of blind
friendly cruises with tons of activities for all the family.

Subject: [blparent] Vacation question
Hi All,
This question is probably best answered by blind couples. What is the best
most accessible vacation spot you have ever visited with your children? This
includes access to transportation and other aspects you just loved as a
person who is blind traveling. Also, how is the experience been for blind
individuals traveling and dealing with the TSA?
