Ok, these will be a little abrupt, but I want to get the ideas out there and
have a shortage of time.

Take someone with you. Someone who will keep her mouth shut an not let the
team treat her like your keeper. If not possible, it is even more important
to record the meeting. You can also request, or just insist if you have to,
on taking things home to think about before you sign off on anything. If you
want to sign but have some reservations or disagreements make them include
that as part of the official record.

Try to dress professionally. These people will all be at work an will just
unconsciously respond to you better if you are not dressed like mom.

Back to bringing someone with you. :) This really can help you feel more
secure to just have someone on your team. Also, I do not know what your
vision is, or what your mobility skills are, but being able to just exit the
meeting will help with your self confidence.

Never be afraid to tell them that the meeting needs to reconvene when they
have finished their research. Also, it is not your responsibility  if they
did not schedule enough time for the meeting. Do not let them pressure you
with their own scheduling problems.

Number one thing to remember is that they are not your friends. Your child's
teacher included. No matter how nice, well informed, or whatever one of the
other team members maybe, you are the only one their who is truly invested
in your child's future. For the other people this is just a job. I am not
saying to be adversarial, just to not fall into that trap.

Insist on an accessible copy of the current IEP to go over before the
meeting. Go in with a written list of your concerns and make them sign and
date it.

If you wish to share more details about what your concerns are, I am happy
to share my experience with you. I will also be honest if it is outside my
own knowledge base an maybe the group can help you figure out what outside
help you need.

I have Ash's IEP in a few days and since the ishues with reading and writing
are still here, does any one have tips on how to get the school to do what
they were saposed to do this year?  I am so sick of this school but there is
no where elce to go so We'll just ride it out.  But if there are teachers,
or others who could help please pass on as much to me as you can.  Feel free
