Hi, what I find is that I don't have to even ask people to tell their
friends they just do. Your nephew is at your house, and he is playing with
the toy you described which is called Marble works for anyone interested,
and his friend is playing with him, and the friends mom picks up and he is
having a wonderful time so she asks where you purchased the toy. Also if a
friend has a party for you she knows other people you don't, and then one of
them has a party and then the chain continues. I once had 12 parties that
chained from a friends party. It was great I had 3 months of business from
one party. I bring business cards everywhere I go, and take toys everywhere.
When I have the baby I have toys hanging from the Ergo, the big kids have
smaller self contained toys for them when we have to wait. We are at the
park we have big red shovels, measure up cups and measure up pots and spoons
with us to play with in the sand and gravel. Other kids join, parents ask
where we got the stuff. You are sitting at the doctor's office, and you are
talking to the mommy near you about the wait, and you inevitably ask what
she does, and you get to share about DT. Consistent work and really loving
your product pay off.

I would think you'd need a broader base of people to sell to than just
friends and family, because after they bought, you'd be out of customers. 
The hard part, at least for me, would be getting my friends and family to
tell their friends and families, who would then tell more and more people. 
Years ago, I tried selling for Specialty Merchandise Corporation (SMC),
which is a company that brings in relatively cheap home décor items and
jewelry from China, and I too failed miserably.  At least with Discovery
Toys, the toys are something worth keeping.  *Smile.*

And by the way, the marble raceway games are awesome!  My stepson played
with those for years, even after he was done with most other toys.  I bought
the deluxe set, and it was some of the best money I ever spent.
