[blparent] cool gifts?

I went a little overboard on gifts this year, but my boys really loved
everything. My 6 year old got a big garden wagon, some How to Draw books,
and a couple of the big boxes of Legos. My mother gave him a hot wheels
track and he has been very excited about that too. My 8 year old was
thrilled with the Ninjago Lego stuff he received. He played with
exclusively, and somewhat obsessively for the first four days after he
opened it on Christmas morning. My 13 year old was surprisingly easy to buy
for this year. He wanted a watch so I found him a pretty sturdy one with all
the features he wanted and he seems very happy with it. I also found one of
the rc helicopters on a huge discount so I got him one of those too, and
then put a wood burner and some new headphones with a mic in his stocking.

They will also be getting a belated Christmas gift from my husband and I. We
had planned to give them some archery equipment but through a series of
issues like the car being in the shop and sick children, we did not get to
the store until the weekend before Christmas and discovered that bows and
arrows were apparently very popular this year because several stores were
sold out.

I spent about twice the amount I spent last year on each boy, but I worked
hard to make everything an extension of toys they already had. Legos are
popular with all three boys so I know they will continue to get a lot of
play time. I gave thought to keeping down the clutter with every gift except
the wagon. My husband suggested the wagon and I am usually the one who makes
all the selections so I went with it to encourage him to be part of the
giving. He was right and Adair loved the wagon, but I have no idea where the
heck I am going to put the thing at the new house when we move. 1
