Hi all,
I wanted to do cloth diapering b/c I wanted to save as much money as
possible... ... simple as that.

It is amazing what they have in cloth diapers. I was intimidated by
the prefolds, but said that I would learn. Hey, I would get lots of
practice. I bought 5pockets, 5thirsties, 4covers and 10prefolds. I
also bought a wet/dry bag. I spent about $300. I estimate that I will
have to use the pockets and thirsties about 66 times (they were
$16.50) to compare with the disposables. they are adjustable, so I
think that I will. but, the prefolds are only $1.50---$3.50
(depending on where you get them), so the economic benefit is seen
sooner. The people at
Abby's lane

are very helpful. they also will anser any question that you have.
We also have a cloth diaper distributor and diaper service in our
city. They are called toasty Baby and are also very helpful and down
to earth. Try

I thought that I would have a difficult time and that the cloth would
not be very absorbent. As of now, I find that I like the pockets from
BumGenius the best. But, I can do the prefolds pretty well. The
pockets will even last all night (so far) and you can stuff them even
more if you want. The only drawback is that the cloth is significantly
thicker than the disposable and sometimes your baby can have a hard
time sitting on his bottom -- it is like a weeble wabble. and, some of
his outfits won't fit exactly right due to the thick middle. I have
not factored in the cost of water and detergent, just as I don't
factor in the cost of trashbags.
I will tel you that they are much easier than I thought they would be.
sure, there is some mess, I guess I just don't mind it much. And, I am
at home all of the time -- most of the time.
I did decide to save those diapers that I got as shower gifts for travel.
