[blparent] kids and the park

Injuries happen anywhere wether you are a blind or sighted parent ... one of
our neighbor kids fell off our trampoline while my sighted husband was
watching them ... my son fell off the top of the swingset, which he
shouldn't have been climbing, while he was at the park with some friends and
probably could have used a couple stiches in his lip ... I mean sometimes
things just happen, no matter how careful you are or whether you are sighted
or not!

Hi. Injury or falling may happen, but if the park equipment is up to code,
there probably won't be an accident that can't be fixed with a kiss or a
Band-Aid. I always take along a bottle of water for rinsing off scrapes as
well as for drinking, and a cell phone in case there's a bigger emergency.
But so far there hasn't been, knock on wood. I guess my daughter is pretty
stoic like her mom because the one time she did scrape herself and draw
enough blood to worry me, she just said, "Look, Mama, my foot has cherry on
it."

One thing I would try when you orient yourself to the park is stop and
listen. If there's a busy street, you can keep your sense of direction by
knowing when you get to the park where you hear the busy street. If it's in
front of you, then when you want to leave, make sure it's at your back.

Jo Elizabeth

I dreamed I met God. He sneezed, and I didn't know what to say to Him.
