Hi,

Press the button on the top of the unit, the one right above the display and 
hold it down for 3 seconds.  If that doesn't work try taking the batteries 
out and putting them back in.  I seem to remember my husband having trouble 
getting ours to work, and we had to reinstall the batteries to fix it. 
Since then it's worked really well.  Also, the button above the display is 
the same one you use to take your temperature.

So, our talking thermometer just arrived, and it comes with batteries. Now,
I have no earthly idea how to turn it on! I've pushed every button, and I've
held down each button for a couple seconds to see if that will help. I'm
wondering if it needs new batteries, as the batteries came pre-installed and
may have gone bad in shipping in the cold weather?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
