Try Googling the product name/number + manual.  My dear lady is
light-dependent, and basically expects me to figure out how various devices
work.  Much easier to do if you have an accessible electronic version of the
manual.

Ok, now the next question is how exactly to use this particular thermometer?
I think I've figured out the memory button which also seems to act as the
button to tell the time and the (in our case probably) in-home temperature?
I guess we'll be scanning the thick print manual that came with this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You may want to inspect the batteries for a sticker or other cover.
Sometimes when items are shipped with the batteries already installed a
barrier of some kind is included to keep it from being turned on and drained
during transit.

Hi,

So, our talking thermometer just arrived, and it comes with batteries. Now,
I have no earthly idea how to turn it on! I've pushed every button, and I've
held down each button for a couple seconds to see if that will help. I'm
wondering if it needs new batteries, as the batteries came pre-installed and
may have gone bad in shipping in the cold weather?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
