Hi,

thanks so much for this Kate!  I'll wait to see what you come up with before 
I sign this school doctor's form.  He said there aren't many people in this 
area who administer tests like this one, but I think it was more like he 
didn't want me to look then there weren't people.  I do want a diagnosis, 
and I'm happy to do whatever it takes to get one.  I really don't feel 
comfortable though, just letting the school handle it on their own.  They'll 
just put him in one of their little boxes, either adhd or not, and leaving 
it at that.

Hi Tammy.

First, I have to look up the name of the test we used, but we had a private
psychologist administer the test because the school wanted to diagnose Ash
with ODD. I felt this would mess with her ability to get a job later on in
life and asked coworkers involved with our kids to give me people who could
help. My coworkers step Mother agreed to give the testing at no charge to us
but to do the testing my coworker had to pick Ash up and we could not be
told anything about what was in the testing till it was finished. We even
had to sign a waver stating we wouldn't ask the school to tell us what was
on the test and we had to agree to stop all extra academic practices if
there were any going on at home. Before the testing our pediatrician did
blood work and checked for ADD with a behavior skail that a copy was given
to us to fill out for home and a paper was mailed to her teacher then mailed
back to the doctor. In the end we learned the following.

Ash does not have ODD, ODD/conduct disorder, ADHD, or ADHDI. Her icue before
being old enough to read was 130 and in grade two though her reading is low
she came in at 140/145. She is still having issues with reading and I will
most likely have to have the same person test her for dyslexia because she
still reverses some letters and reads slow for her IQ.

I'll look up the tests and ask the psychologist if there are links I can
post.
