[blparent] Teaching society about blindness- using knives

I completely agree. I've never "feared" knives, and again, I didn't lose
my sight until eight years ago. And I find many things to be more
efficient nonvisually. Just last night I told a friend that should I
ever get vision back, I would still use JAWS for most things computer
related since there's so much visual stimulation especially online. I
remember being sighted and constantly distracted by all the visual stuff
"thrown" at you online. I often navigate around on my computer quicker
than a lot of sighted people I know because of this very reason.
Sincerely,
Bridgit Kuenning-Pollpeter

"I still have just enough sight to be able to use sharp knives"
Your own biases are showing here. :) You have made some good points in
this post and I hope you do not think this is the only thing I have
taken from your response. It is just that I have been totally blind
since 1987 and I use knives regularly. Depending on how much vision you
have, you may find that you are able to move faster with a knife if you
give up trying to use your vision for the task.
