Hina,

I'm not sure if you remember me or not, but I was the Sarah at a couple
of NFB chapter meetings when you and your brother were up here at school
in Wisconsin. Anyway, I have been holding off on introducing myself to
the list because everyone's been so helpful already by just sharing
their experiences. The archives are so full of treasures that I've been
able to find answers to questions without having to ask via email. I'm
sure that'll change when I give birth, though, in just a few months.
LOL! I'll be asking so many questions, I'll probably be kicked off or
something. So please pardon me while I introduce myself to fellow
listers while I'm still in everyone's good graces..

My husband Ben and I are expecting our first baby in June as well. As
first-timers, we're of course a little nervous. I'm totally blind and
Ben has some vision, but can't drive or read print without
magnification. I know this childcare without sight thing is possible,
because my mom, also totally blind, raised five kids without the
advantage of all the technology and help that is available today. Still,
I'm aware that growing and caring for my family will mean HUGE changes
for life as I know it. And it's so close now! This list will be a
Godsend. Thanks, guys, and I'm looking forward to getting to know
everyone.

So, Hina, you and I are kind of at the same place over here, and we're
not that far apart geographically either. I would love to help you out
however I can. Are you still on Twitter? I can direct message you my
phone number if that's okay. And I have family down there in Rockford,
too. My younger sister and her husband just moved there. They're
expecting a baby within the next month. I called her last night and she
wants to get in touch with you, too, if that's all right. She wants to
get together and lend you her baby and help however is comfortable for
you. She's not blind, but I can attest that she is a very good teacher.
She really was excited about getting to know you and helping you out.

Anyway, please let me know, and we can get in touch off-list. You can
also email me at chutneysgirl at yahoo.com.

Sarah
