The same goes with sodas they are also high in caffeine and sugar. I was
told by my OB that sodas are high contributors to low amniotic fluid He
said that it is the excessive consumption of such drinks that are the
problem. The excessive consumption of coffee, tea, and sodas can become the
cause of difficulties in the pregnancy. If you do choose to drink these
beverages try to do it in small amounts and infrequently this should have
little effect. If your body is telling you not to do something I would
first listen to your body and stop but also inform your doctor about such
occurrences. When I was pregnant I mostly drank water and milk but there
was times that I splurged and had a iced tea without sugar or fruit juice.
We all know that alcohol, smoking, drugs and many medications adversely
effect the child but we don't realize unless told by our doctor that sodas,
coffee, and teas in excess can also effect our child. Good luck with your
pregnancy.
