Isn't it also gainst the beliefs of her religion to be honest about this? "Hey, I'm sorry, guys, my religion forbids this drink, I can't help you find it and be true to myself"
is a lot better then whatever she did.

She's very strict lds, which means no hot drinks, which is originally
clarified to mean coffee and tea, but in her case includes all hot drinks.
