I agree wholeheartedly about buying as much baby gear as you can secondhand. 
Babies outgrow it so fast!

If you do put a swing on a tabletop, make sure to put something like a 
rubber bath mat under it so it doesn't vibrate and scoot itself right off 
the edge.
