IMHO, if your child doens't have a life threatening illness, with add and 
adhd aren't, why should you be forced ot put him or her on mdcine? If he or 
she is old enough, explain to them what is wrong wit htheir brain, that 
there is medicine that may help, and ask if they'd like to try it out, 
because sometimes it doesn't work on all people.
I wouldn't automagically shoved meds down my kids' throat just because a 
mechanic in a labcoat told me to, unless my child had a life-threatening 
illness. even then, I'd find out everything I could before doing so.
