Dice are great for learning math too. I start with one di for the throws to
help kids with the idea of representation along with less than and more
than. Later I use two dice and we work on addition, I also throw in some
subtraction with figuring out the difference between the winning and loosing
throw.

Dice are also easy to carry around in my purse for a quick form of
entertainment when out and about.

My wife used to tutor at the school where our kids went.  She taught the
kids to play blackjack for M&Ms, and you'd be surprised how quickly those
kids learned to add.
