[blparent] Yard Work (was Advice: buying a house)

Too funny. Sounds like your friend ought to be hired by the landscaping
company that does the lawns here. My grass has a bunch of big old burnt
spots, and the homeowners' association wanted to tell me it was my dog that
had caused them with her urine. They wanted me to give her some kind of a
pill that would neutralize her urine. But the truth is that they dumped a
bunch of fertilizer on the grass and didn't bother to spread it around, so
it burned the spots where it was concentrated. I do know that I could have
learned to handle yard work if it had been important enough to me. But it
wasn't something I was very interested in, beyond some potted plants on the
porch, and tomatoes and strawberries I have in those upside down doohickeys
that you hang up from the rafters. So when I went to buy a house, I
deliberately looked for a place with grounds maintenance, such as it is.
