That's great to know and after researching last night I've found a few great
places like that around us that I just know Dawson will get a kick out of.
It will be a Kodak moment the first time for sure!

She loved it, always wanted to sit in the camel chair. I think the hair
cuts with wash were only about $15, probably a little more now. But for
what you got, no tantrums, it was well worth it. She always thought of it
as a treat to go there.

That sounds awesome! How did your daughter like it and how much did you
usually pay?

We used to take gab to a place called Mop heads and they had animal chairs
and always a movie. They laid the child down on a carpeted table and wash
their hair through a whole at one end.

There are tons of kid haircut places. Toys R us has their own line, and many
others are springing up. They are cool with fun shaped chairs for the kids
like cars and plains, and they often have kids movies, fun smocks and all
kinds of things. Some will even take random pictures for the first cut, and
have clubs for birthdays and such.

Hi, Erin. I'm thinking my daughter was nearly two and a half when I took
her for her first haircut. It was an impulse decision because I was having
lunch with a friend who mentioned that she was going for a trim, and I asked
if Sarah and I could tag along. What I did to make the experience
comfortable for Sarah was to have her sit on my lap in the barber chair for
a minute and then stand next to me while I was having my hair trimmed. Then
I stood next to her when it was her turn in the chair. It was a little
difficult for her to sit still, but the trim didn't take long. I wouldn't
recommend giving your son a toy to play with because that might make him be
less still. Just stand next to him and hold his hand if you need to, and
explain what's going on. He'll be able to see the process in the mirror.
Then maybe give him a little treat afterward. Most places offer lollipops
and sunch, or you could bring something he especially likes to give him at
the end of the experience.

I've never seen a place that specializes in kids, but if you do find one,
the price is probably going to be higher than usual. I think anywhere you
go will work out, even if it's not billed as kid friendly. My only regret
was that I forgot to save the first lock of hair for Sarah's baby book.
