[blparent] Babies on Monitors

I have dealt with other monitors with touch screens. It is scary and tough
but can be done. What I've done is made overlays for the different screens I
will need and switched them with each push of the button. This all works
fine until one gets an error and the screens don't line up. At this point
you have to know to cancel and reprogram the monitator from the start when
you can't get past the error. I wonder if we knew the state if we could
somehow build a care calendar for her to get volunteers to be on call if she
should need help? Also what about looking on ebay and other such places for
a earlier model of the monitor? The other thing I can think of is that the
hospitals all have volunteers. Maybe they would be willing to ask any of
them if they would volunteer with the mom. O so scary! I'll keep her in my
thoughts and prayers that all will work out so she can stay with her baby.

Subject: [blparent] Babies on Monitors

I have just spoken with the new mom Jan posted about earlier. Her baby is a
preemie, and he will be on a heart monitor when he leaves the hospital. The
monitor has a touch screen. The hospital tried to find an older model with
buttons, but they say they are unable to do so. She is a single mom with
very limited support in the community, so this is presenting a serious
problem. Has anyone on this list had to deal with an inaccessible heart
monitor? Any and all suggestions are welcome!

Debbie
