[blparent] O&M advice

Yes, carrying my son works best for me most the time as well, but I
understand that some don't have the physical strength. I personally love it
and the baby lasts a whole lot longer in a carrier than in a stroller
because they're attached to you and interacting and moving with your body
movements. You've got to do what works best for you and for me the carrier
works best in most situations, especially when riding public transportation.
I love the stroller for when I know my son is getting close to nap time
because he can just recline and sleep comfortably in his seat. Carrying my
son has also built muscle and shedded unwanted wait so that's an extra win
in my book. I like to call it my gym time and one can't beat the price! LOL

Amanda, can you not reach your back with your hands? I do not think I have
abnormally long arms or extra flexibility and I was able to reach back and
hold a hand or check their head positions. I could also reach back from the
bottom and check the diaper too. One of my boys was wretched about kicking
off his shoes so I often walked along holding one of his feet in my empty
hand. :) I also liked being able to talk to the baby and be engaged with him
as we walked.

I also just felt safer knowing that as soon as I was out of the street so
was the baby. That is just not the case when you pull a stroller behind you.

Over all I just felt safer having the baby in direct contact with me rather
than trailing behind me in a stroller. This was especially so if I used the
bus as that required that I take the baby out of the stroller and fold it
up. That would have left me holding the baby with one hand and trying to
fold the stroller with the other. Now I did miss the convenience of having
one of those infant seat stroller combos sometimes. That would have been
nice a few times when I needed the car seat during transition and was then
stuck carrying it around on a strap.

I know some parents are just not comfortable carrying that much weight
around, but it worked out well for me

O wow. I don't know how you can feel comfortable with your baby behind you!
I just could not do that. Even pulled behind in the stroller it's easy to
turn around and check on him, but strapped to my back? NO WAY!
To each his own though I guess.
