[blparent] Leashes (was resource list)

When I worked in downtown Denver, the Peta organization (People for the
Ethical Treatment of Animals) was pretty active down there. Two or three
times, the PETA members would get all around me and link arms in a circle,
and then start barraging me with accusations of how I enslaved my guide dog,
how she should be free--to get hit by somebody's Buick I guess--and how
animals shouldn't be subjected to involuntary servitude. Seriously. And I
couldn't get away from them because they wouldn't break the circle, once I
even missed the bus. So I started pretending I was deaf and couldn't hear
what they were saying, till they gave up. But it is true that some people
have very radical ideas about animals and leashes.
