[blparent] how to handle a baby while you multi task

Hello Hina,

Your baby is at such a fun age. For the first year and a half the home we
lived in had all tile floors downstairs. I had an area rug which my son
loved to play on and we moved our coffee table out of the way so that could
be a true play area for him. I also utilized those few moments during the
day when I needed both hands free to take advantage of educational TV as a
special treat for my son while he played in his exer-saucer, jumper, swing
or play pen. The play pen we had for him was the largest on the market at
five feet by five feet which offered him a lot of room. I also made sure to
only place him in these devices for no more than 30 minutes and only during
special times of the day when he was ready to explore and I needed to do
something requiring both hands like the dishes or cooking. If my son ever
became agitated in these devices, I stopped what I was doing and either went
back to what I was doing later or put him in a carrier if it was something I
had to finish at that moment.

Hope this helps and have a blast with that little pumpkin of yours.

Erin

Hi,
I am a working mom and when I come home, my husband leaves for work and I
and the baby are all alone. He is in the stage where he wants to crawl and
roll over but we do not have a carpet and it is hard wood floor. when I am
cooking, my husband asked me to put him in the car seat but he likes to move
around and I am afraid he may fall. Do you have any suggestions? what
techniques do you all use to watch the baby so you can do other house work?
Hina.
