Hi. I don't like how messy they can be. I do put them in my sons school
lunches from time to time, but I don't let the kids have them at home. I use
to until I was constantly finding the little plastic wrappers to the straws
all over the place. They're not good on a sweeper! Plus, inevitably the
pouch would get squeezed too hard and it would make a mess. But, more so
than that I don't like using the juice boxes. Juice always squirts out of
the straw as soon as you place the straw in the box.

Not to down play the potential hazard, but are you certain she was sucking
on it?

Kids learn at an early age to blow in to it and build up pressure. Just like
a balloon, when you blow it up, it wants to push everything out. Generally
with juice boxes, it is the juice through the straw that gets pushed out,
but there is the potential for the straw itself to be pushed out.

Sucking will do the opposite. It creates a vacuum inside the juice
container. This is why the side collapses. 

I am pretty positive any letter to the company would come with a similar
reply. Now if you can duplicate it and get it on video, that might be a
different story. 

There are plenty of reasons not to drink CapriSun, so do not think I am
defending them. Feel free to add this to your list of reasons, also add
worms in the juice and mold. These two can be found with a simple Google
search.

Gab was drinking a packet of Capri sun juice last evening when the weirdest
thing happened.  She sucked on the straw and that silly thing came out of
the packet and stabbed her throat.  She gagged and spit it out and then
almost started to cry.  I seriously never knew the straw would fly out like
that.  Scarry.
