Anybody know the story about the unhappy passengers on the train?

I have mixed feelings about gluing the pieces down into a parent designed
track. It does make for easier clean up, and the kids will play with these.
I picked up a train board that was already put together like this at a
garage sale and my boys loved it.

As the children mature a big part of the fun and educational quality of this
toy is the building and designing of their own track systems. My boys often
had trains running under furniture and all over the room. A couple of pieces
wiggled loose off of the train board and that became the jumping off point
to put in a piece to redirect the track off another direction.

If I were putting one together myself, I would include some of the Y pieces
in the design as a kind of dead end. It can be part of a loading station for
early pretend play, and then a connector for designing their own patterns
later.

My son has that set, and loves it!
We got a train table, and glued the tracks together, and mailed it to
the table so they don't move.
Thomas is a big hit in our home.
