I agree! Goodnight Moon always had to be read daily around our house.
A few other I might add:
The Napping House, funny and teaches about cause and effect

In the tall, tall Grass

Barnyard Lullaby

green Eggs and Ham or anything by Dr. Seuss

those were all hits! with my kids.
