[blparent] Body Wash and Creams for Baby

This is a myth. There is nothing that numbs the baby's eyes. Think about it,
do your hands go numb while handling the product?
Johnson and Johnson was under pressure to remove certain chemicals from
their products though. 1,4-dioxane, a likely carcinogen,

quaternium-15, formaldehyde releaser, which is a preservative.

The baby wash is gentle on the eyes because it does not contain soap or
alcohol.
Please note that soap is different from detergent. Soap is made with Sodium
Hydroxide lye. Even the most gentle soap, which is made with 100% olive oil
will still burn the eyes.

I used Johnson and Johnson without any trouble, but then later I read that
formaldehyde is used as the numbing agent to prevent the shampoo from
stinging the eyes. That was disturbing. Apparently the company is
reformulating the shampoo for the American market, since a formaldehyde free
version has been available in other countries that don't accept as many
harmful ingredients in foods and personal care products.

Hi Gloria,

The brand is actually called Burt's Bees. There is alsp another brand
called Tom's of Maine which I believe is sold all over the country. I do
believe that Tom's has a baby care line of items.

Hi all,
I just wanted to get some opinions on brands of body wash, shampoo, losion,
etc... for babies. I have always thought Johnson and Johnson was a great
brand to use for babies, but I have been doing some reading and have heard
that because of the different chemicals in the product it is not recommended
for babies and that it also dries out their skin quick. I have heard of
people using Alovira, California Baby and some brand I believe it is called
Birds and Bees or something like that. I just wanted to get you guys
opinions on this and see what brands have worked best for you. I know it is
different for everyone, but some ideas would be great.
Thanks,
Gloria
