i hope that you can figure this all out.
I have suggested that look into the bus that take special needs kids to
school and may be they will make an exception.
Congratulations on the new little one.

Have a blessed day.
Blessings,

Our school board is still dorking around. They announced in June after
school let out that they wanted to expand the walk zone. Then they found
that it's more difficult to hire crossing guards then they expected. Three
weeks before school starts, and nobody is sure who is eligible for the bus
and who isn't. We are just at the edge of what may or may not be the walk
zone. We live about 200 feet from what will probably be a bus stop. The walk
to school is about a mile each way.
I'm trying to figure out if my daughter can ride the bus or what my options
are. I've talked to the principal who seemed to grasp my concerns.
What acceptions have been made for kids to ride the bus? Part of why I ask
is that we are expecting our second baby due in Feb. I'm concerned about
walking over icey sidewalks as both winter and my pregnancy progress.
I think what annoys me the most is that the school board could have
announced this last schoolyear, say in Feb. That would allow the parents the
opportunity to network and figure out a solution. As it is now, nobody knows
what to expect, people are gone on vacation, so people aren't around at the
same time to discuss. If anybody has advice, I'd love to hear it,
specifically on making the bus be an option.
To be clear, all these maybe changes were announced this summer. Our house
was on the bus line last year.

Jo Elizabeth, perhaps you will meet other parents who can bring Sarah home.
That was the specific reason that I got involved with school board and other
activities when my sons were in preschool which, at that time, was a 3.5
hour day. An 11:10 dismissal for working parents! Good luck!
That's a long walk for an almost 11 year old dog even on a good day. Keep
your cane with you! My first girl retired at 10.5, and I probably should
have retired her before that.

I'm sending my baby off to kindergarten! I don't know where the time went!

Tomorrow is Back to School Night, so I'll be seeing the classroom and
meeting the teacher. I've already been in e-mail contact with her and the
school secretary, letting them know that I would prefer electronic rather
than printed communications. So far, they seem cooperative.

My only concern right now is that I thought my daughter would be able to
ride the bus, but we're right on the edge, a mile away from school. Anyone
living less than a mile doesn't get bus services. So it's looking like I'll
need to walk over there and pick her up each day, and I need to learn the
route. My worry is that my poor guide dog is nearly eleven and feeling her
age. So while it shouldn't be too much of a problem in good weather, I may
have a real pickle on my hands when winter comes.

Jo Elizabeth

Hello, its that time again and depending on where you all live, its back to
school time. Our kiddos begin on August 16 here in NM, but I heard AZ
already started amonth ago.
Do your children walk, with someone or alone?
Are they just beginning, Pre-school, Kindergarten?
Is this their last year or are they in mid school?
Home schooled, teacher issues?
