[blparent] Mom, may I have some ice cream, please?

Being a parent has a lot of challenges. One day I observed a family member
getting on the bus. The day happened to be Feb. 17. I was headed toward
UCLA's Jackie Robinson Stadium. Now, back to this family, Mom, with 4
kids: They were, obviously, tired. Mom complains that, "I have to see
where I'm going." All 4 kids were misbehaving, one is autistic. As a
blind person, I had a duty to quiet down and not say anything to her.

I felt it necessary to let them go, because: (1) they were all irritable,
and (2) one kept asking for ice cream. Question to blparent: If your
children correct their misbehavior, and the day is hot, do you still give
them ice cream? Bonus question: I got off at my stop, handing my seat over
to Mom, who, at this time, was not feeling well, and still irate. Did I do
the right thing to give up my seat, so that she could better watch her
kids? If yes, please explain your answer. You may respond on or off list.
