[blparent] cradle cap and stuff

Our Elizabeth had this for a while. My pediatrician suggested using olive
oil, and it worked great. I poured a little olive oil on her wet head,
massaged it in with my fingers, then gently tried to loosen the dry stuff
and get it off of her scalp. Then I rinced her hair with water, put on the
head to toe wash I used for shampoo, massaged that in, tried to loosen more
dry skin, then wrinced that off. With this treatment, the cradle cap went
away in maybe two or three days.
Good luck.
Melissa

My Dylan had it really bad when he was a new born as well. I would coat it
with baby oil, then use a fine baby comb to gently comb over the area and it
would lift out. I did this at least twice a day until it cleared up. She
should definitely keep it coated with something, because it's so dry and
scaly. Dylan's was anyway. It looked down right painful. Also, my best
friend who is a nanny and works with new bourns all the time said to wash
the hair every day without a doubt and really rub the area with your
fingers. Gently course. Smile. It's a pain I know. Kate never had it thank
goodness.

Hi everyone, obviously I am not asking for myself but I have a new friend
who has a new baby girl and her baby has severe cradle cap. Her
mother-in-love told her to put a bit of olive oil on the scaly area and it
turned out the baby was allergic to it. She broke out in hives all over her
little head and face.
The Dr told her they couldn't give her anything since she is only 9 weeks.
The pharmacist suggested that she put about a tablespoon of Selson Blue in a
quart bottle, fill it with water and dab with a cotton ball on the scaly
area. She hasn't tried that yet, kind of gun shy.
Do you all have any ideas for her?
Veronica
