[blparent] Potty training

Each kid is different.  My daughter never gave two hoots about the stickers 
and charts.  Half the time, she'd stick the sticker on me without me 
knowing, and I'd walk around with it on my butt or in my hair for hours 
before I discovered it.  Her thing was that she wanted to go to preschool, 
and I wouldn't sign her up till she was trained because I wasn't about to 
pay the extra fees for the class that still had diapering available.  Once 
she figured that out, it clicked in less than two weeks.  Before that, she 
just wasn't ready.

Hi.
With my son, the sticker potty chart that hung right next to the potty
worked great. He got a special sticker every time he used the potty. When he
started to use the potty for both types of pottying jobs, he would earn two
stickers. At the end of the row he would get candy. Bad for the teeth, but
hey it worked. Also, his first pair of underwear had Spider Man on them.
They were very special to him. The first time he went potty in his underwear
I said, "oh no, you pottied on Spider Man." He never had another accident.

With Kate, now she's been a bit more difficult. She's potty trained of
course, she's almost four, but it's been a real ordeal with her. She likes
earning stickers, but if she doesn't earn one it doesn't bother her much.
She's always sorry if she has an accident on the princesses or Minnie Mouse,
but she just tells me to wash them please. She still has accidents, but I'm
trying to be patient. Good luck to you.
