I know you didn't ask about it, but have you considered the Neato? It is a robotic vacuum like the Roomba, but better IMO. The programming behind what makes it work is a bit different, so it knows where it is in a room, and where it has cleaned and where it still has to clean. So if it runs out of battery while still cleaning, it will go back to its charging station, recharge itself, and then go back to where it left off and finish vaccuming.
The front end of it is basically square so it gets into corners and along walls a bit better than the Roomba. And It is very easy to clean. Also it doesn't get stuck on things as much as the Roomba does.

And the customer service is fantastic. If you are having problems with it not working right, be sure to call them. They are very responsive and will usually send you a new unit and ask you to send yours back to them. The warranty is 1 year, but it seems that each time they have to send out a new unit, the warranty is reset.
