Hina, I played a lot of words games and sang a lot of songs. I know I know,
you are saying word games, baby too young for that. But even at this age,
they are little sponges and absorb it all. I would say A A is for apple
and if I had an apple, I would show it to her, B is for ball, c is for cat.
Sometimes I would just pick up her stuffed animals, hand each to Gab
separately saying the animal dog bow wow wow, cat meow eow and so on. Sing
the names, make it fun. Before you know it, your baby will start handing
you the animals and waiting for the sounds and names.
Good books are Brown bear Brown bear, what do I see or Polar bear polar
bear, what do you hear. Both were Gab's favorite.
Sign up for the Kenneth Jernagan library or depending where you live, the
Utah State library for the blind. Both will send you age appropriate
print-braille books for you to read.
Take little walks around the yard, make sure to point out birds, trees,
plants, leaves, touch them and say the names. Listen to the birds and say
bird and make the sound. When Gab was little, I showed her a fish and of
course, I didn't know what sound it made, so I said bubble bubble. For
years after that, she'd call them bubbles.

Subject: [blparent] need advise:

Hi,
My baby is almost going to be eleven months now and crawls around
everywhere. he is also standing up holding on to things and trying to take a
few baby steps. Do you know of any games I can play with him at this age? i
am only home in the evening and have almost two to three hours with him
before he goes to bed, i want to do the most i can because i feel i am not
spending enough time with my child. what are some of the fun activities you
did and would recommend? Please also give me some titles of picture books
and story books that you used and I will see if I can get them?
All the help is much appreciated as always.
Hina.
