Shelby,
I know there are apps as you describe, but I don't know if they are
accessible.
Also, I caution you using a screen of some sort to teach your child
especially at such a young age. They require tactile learning along with
visual, and I recommend blocks and other similar toys in order to teach
shapes and colors and pictures.
Doug and Melissa is a great company that has toys like this that are
affordable and non-toxic. We have from this company magnetic animal
shapes, pattern blocks you can make pictures with and a shape sorting
box. The kids love them.
You can label colors so you know what they are and any pictures. Of
course, you can just feel the shapes, smile.
I would definitely hesitate though to use an IPhone or other device to
teach a child. Like I said, that tactile experience is crucial
especially at this age. And the eyes are still developing, and looking
at a screen isn't recommended. The American Pediatric Association
recently stated that children under two shouldn't watch television of
any kind. This includes using tablets and phones.

Hi all,
I am wondering if you know of any baby/kid friendly, accessible apps for
the I devices. My son is almost eight months and I'd like things like:
animal sounds, colors, numbers and letters.
Thanks,
Shelby
