Hi all,

When my son Dawson was 14 months he sat on Santa's lap for the first time
and had the typical response of being scared. I held him the whole time
which helped a ton. The man who played Santa was amazing with him and we
have the most adorable picture of our son crying with Santa giving him a
sweet and self-conscious look. The next year our Son's response was
completely the opposite and I think it helped tremendously that Dawson got
to see some friends of his go and say hi to Santa in line before it was his
turn. We also showed Dawson several Christmas shows ahead of time which
helped prepare him for what Santa might look and sound like. It's hilarious
though because Dawson thinks we live two doors down from the "real Santa,
because last year a neighbor of ours who has the whole costume came to our
door and gave Dawson a personal visit. Dawson was so excited he could
hardly stay in his own skin! Even when we run into that neighbor which is
on a fairly frequent basis, Dawson still calls him Santa and isn't bothered
in the least that he isn't wearing his red suit and beard. It's as though
he has this natural and innocent belief that when it's the right time of
year "Santa" our neighbor will put his special suit on and do his thing. It
does help that our neighbor where's a red baseball cap all the time as a
little reminder to all of who he really is. SMILING! It's too cute though
because our "Santa" neighbor is a Mexican man so any-time Dawson sees a
Caucasian Santa he looks at them like, "Yah, you're fun but I know you're
not the real deal because the real Santa is Mexican and lives two doors down
from my very own house." GRIN So, if anyone was wondering, the real Santa
doesn't actually live in the North Pole! He lives in San Diego in apartment
148. No one would ever think to look for him here which is the perfect way
for him to get a rest for 3 quarters of the year! LOL!

Have a blessed day!

Erin

Isn't that the truth? When we first told my daughter about Santa, I think
maybe she was three, nearly four. She got really alarmed and said, "Mama!
He's coming in our house? At night?"

Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may
kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at
evening.--Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.

The rules change at Christmas too. "See that old guy? Now, go sit on his lap
and tell him what you want for Christmas. Trust me, he knows where you live
and can get into house when we're all asleep. And, remember he loooooves
you!"
A lot of what we tell kids doesn't make a lot of sense when you think about
it.
