Have you read The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding yet?
It is available from NLS, and I know the La Leche (That is a guess on the
spelling.) League can get you a brailled copy. La Leche can be a great
breastfeeding support, but just go forewarned that they tend to be zealots
on the subject.
Do not hesitate to get help from the nurses at the hospital either. Most
likely the hospital has a breast feeding specialist, but the nurses will
have some basic training. I found it helpful to let my husband and sister
help me with the latch on a few times just so I could focus on making sure
my little guy knew what he was doing.
We will of course try to help you with any questions here. Believe me the
drunken sailor effect of a full baby is not reliant on vision. Neither is
testing for the relaxation in a baby's arm to gage fullness. I can explain
both of those more, but I think the book will do a better job.

Subject: [blparent] Breastfeeding Class
Went to my Breastfeeding class today. In someways it's helpful but in others
it just made me more uneasy. The teacher did a good job with explaining
things non-visual but most of the her what you need to look for was visual.
This made me feel uneasy about getting the latch needed for baby to be on
right. This is something I really want to do but worry that I am going to
mess it up or do something wrong. My hubby went with me that helped but I
feel more lost now then I did before I went. :-( In a lot of ways blindness
changes how something is done. I know there are others that have no sight
and do fine. So I am not sure why I am so upset.
