[blparent] chore chart ideas

A tool I find useful for making various things more accessible is a Braille
label maker. It wouldn't be worth buying one -- I think they're maybe $20
-- just for your chore list, but I've used mine to label touch buttons on
all kinds of devices, for example, appliances with buttons you can't feel.
The label maker embosses a strip of clear plastic tape from which you can
peal the back and then stick it to whatever you want to label. I don't
remember where I got mine (maybe 20 years ago), but I'll bet Independence
Market carries them.

Well, I did mine with coins in a cup instead of marks on paper, but it
worked since I only have one child. It might get confusing with three, but
you could use different coins for each kid to keep them straight.

Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may
kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at
evening.--Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.

What about making the markings those little stars that you buy and stick on
like what the children used to get at school if they did good work? That way
the kids get a star and you get to feel the star. Now having said this, I
have no idea how expensive they are nowadays. Maybe you could go with the
child to tick them off and have a little system that's fun like if you get
so many tick marks on the chart you get to not do the chore that day or you
get to swap if the kids are older or fill in the blank.

Hi all,
I want to have a chore chart for our 3, 7 and 10 year old. However, I'm not
quite sure how to go about it.
What we have is a chart with the names across the top, with the chores for
each child with a space to tick them off once done.
The problem I'm not sure about is how to make it blind friendly. I need to
have some way of knowing which chores were ticked off.
Thanks,
Steph
