Hi, Tara,  When my kids were taking the liquid medicine, I would have the 
doctor or pharmacist notch the plunger at the point where you have pulled it 
up to draw the right amount.  A trick is to always pull the plunger a bit 
past the notch to get rid of any air bubbles, then slowly bring the plunger 
down to the notch.
