You can most certainly have your name on the title and insurance. We've done
that and my name is on both our vehicles.
I'd push back on this since well it is your money involved.

I bought a car for my stepdaughter. I couldn't purchase insurance in my
name, and I found it easier to just let my stepdaughter's dad register the
car in his name and put his daughter on his policy. When she got too old to
go on his policy, the title to the car was transferred into her name and she
bought her own insurance. I found it disturbing that there was no way for
me to have the car and the insurance in my name since it was my money
involved, but I didn't have the time or the energy when it was all happening
to sort it out. Maybe there would have been a way to make it work that I
didn't know about.

kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at

Well bro who are the privileged to have one? Hmmmm.
More importantly, how do you become privileged?
